Bereavement Counselling
For most of us, grief will be the most distressing experience we will ever face. We are often ill-prepared for how it will impact us in the days, months and years ahead. For some people the support of family and friends is sufficient.
For others, having a neutral, confidential space, to talk about your experience and the effect on your life, provides another vital source of support. For many, knowing that there is somewhere just for you, where you are not having to worry about the person you are talking to or ‘burdening’ them, provides additional support.
There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Each person’s experience of grief is unique, and so is the type of support you need. Bereavement counselling can be helpful at any time during the grieving process.
I can support young adults, parents, couples or any individual who has suffered a loss whether it be a miscarriage, a sudden or traumatic loss such as suicide, road traffic accidents or life limiting illnesses.
If you would like the opportunity to meet for a session to talk through something in particular related to your loss but don’t feel counselling is right at this time, a one-off support session may be right for you. For example, this may be returning to work, supporting children through their grief or a more general chance just to talk and to hear some strategies and ways to cope.

An initial free 30 minute consultation is always offered prior to the first session. We can then establish the best way forward and how many sessions may be beneficial.
Most people notice improvements in their wellbeing within 3-4 sessions, though there is no commitment to a number/frequency of sessions.
